1Q2022 Recap: What SAMO Achieved

Now that the first quarter of 2022 has ended, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all the progress Samoyedcoin has made — particularly during less than ideal market conditions. But, more importantly, we wanted to remind the Samo Famo just how far we’ve come in a short period. We closed out 1Q2022 on a high note and accomplished plenty. But, while the team is pleased to have accomplished so much in so little time, not everything went as planned. Over the past several weeks, we reflected on what went wrong, what changes need to be made, and where to concentrate our efforts in the month(s) to fulfill our vision, mission, and strategy.

Samoyedcoin Vision, Mission, & Strategy

In this post, we highlight this year’s most notable wins thus far. These wins fall into several categories, including partnerships, project developments, SAMO NFTs, media appearances, community developments, and stats. Furthermore, we briefly touch on our priorities in the coming quarter and how said initiatives will return value to Samoyedcoin.

Partnerships

At our core, Samoyedcoin aspires to accelerate the adoption of Solana. As we see it, the way Samoyedcoin wins is by Solana winning. Accordingly, we spent much of this last quarter exploring and establishing partnerships with some of the ecosystem’s most prominent players, all in an effort to bring more utility to SAMO and SAMO NFTs and help uplift some of the largest projects in the game.

• Hey Wallet! added $SAMO on January 30, 2022, to help bring SAMO tips & giveaways to Twitter.

• Poloniex centralized exchange listed $SAMO on February 22, 2022.
• Switchboard added $SAMO, a community-curated oracle network on Solana, on February 28, 2022.

• Collaborated with Bridgesplit, Holaplex, and Hey Wallet! to auction off a fractionalized, limited-edition “No War Please” SAMO NFT on March 25, 2022; proceeds went to 8 Ukrainian charities.

Project Developments

Knowing just how challenging it can be to stay focused in the worst of market conditions, the team has spent a great deal of time this year doubling down on relatively new initiatives that we believe will position Samoyedcoin for mass adoption over time. Much of the project’s shift in direction came off the back of the Samoyedcoin team defining the project’s vision, mission, and strategy. After all, the great Lao Tzu once said, “If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.”

The SAMO Vision: Accelerate the adoption, development, and growth of the Solana ecosystem.

The SAMO Mission: Establish Samoyedcoin as Solana’s ambassador by pushing the limits of what’s possible for a Web 3.0 community.

The SAMO Strategy: Provide market participants with the knowledge, resources, and community to better navigate Solana, crypto, and life.

• Added three new members to the team, Ghost The Sammie, SnapbackClaptrap, and Daisy The SAMO to assist with Samoyedcoin’s marketing, development, and growth.
• Published the Samoyedcoin Energy Use Report on January 9, 2022, with reference to Solana’s Energy Use Report.
• Integrated with CoinKit on January 10, 2022, thereby enabling support for Discord and Telegram tipping in $SAMO.
• Launched SAMO/STEP pool on Step Finance on January 14, 2022.

Samoyedcoin Merch

• Created the Samoyedcoin Swag Store on January 21, 2022.
• Released the Samoyedcoin WhitePAWper on February 15, 2022.
• Solend added $SAMO to their Isolated Dog Pool on March 8, 2022.
• Pip added $SAMO support on March 22, 2022, thus allowing users to send $SAMO to friend & family on any website via a Solana tag.
• Launched the first version of Samo Academy, a trusted resource to learn about various aspects of the cryptoasset industry, on March 7, 2022. The first few articles include How To Stake On Solana, What Is Market Cap & Why It Matters, and How To Secure Your Crypto.

• Revamped the Samoyedcoin website with a new updated layout & roadmap, as well as links to SAMO merch, whitePAWper, SAMO NFTs, SAMO Academy, and The Hall of Memes on March 8, 2022.
• Launched the Samoyedcoin YouTube channel on March 17, 2022, which includes past Alpha Dog podcast episodes, Townhall meetings, and others.

SAMO NFTs

In what was Samoyedcoin’s most anticipated release in months, the SAMO NFT collection of 5,525 randomly generated, custom-designed Samoyeds went on sale to the general public on January 31, 2022. Verified Discord members with the “Samillionaire” role (owning more than 1M SAMO) were able to mint 1x SAMO NFT at a discount using $SAMO — which made the Samoyedcoin NFT mint the first project to mint NFTs using a native token. The remaining NFTs that whitelisted Samillionaire community members did not mint sold out in less than 7 minutes.

• Roughly $53,000 worth of $SAMO proceeds from the whitelisted mint were burned. Approximately 3,650 SOL from the public mint was sold for 381,088 USDC — which will be used to further the adoption and success of the Samoyedcoin project.
• SAMO NFT #12 sold for 100 SOL on January 31, 2022.
• SAMO NFT #5471 sold for 100 SOL on January 31, 2022.
• SAMO NFT #11 sold for 169 SOL on January 31, 2022.
• SAMO NFT #5473 sold for 200 SOL on February 2, 2022.
• SAMO NFTs took the #1 rank spot on Solanart NFT exchange on February 6, 2022.
• World-renowned music producer Metro Boomin’ received an honorary 1/1 SAMO NFT on February 9, 2022.
• FTX.US listed SAMO NFTs on February 9, 2022.
• Patriots defensive end Chase Winovich received honorary 1/1 SAMO NFT on February 10, 2022.
• SAMO NFT #16 was sold for 111 SOL on March 5, 2022.
• SAMO NFT #5474 sold for 100 SOL on March 19, 2022.
• Rolled out samostories.app on March 23, 2022, a web app that allows NFT holders to write their lore, comment on and rate lores, compete with other NFT holders for the best Samo Story, and more.

Media Appearances

As part of a broader effort to help educate market participants and grow Samoyedcoin’s brand awareness, the team brought on several Solana-based projects to the The Alpha Dog podcast. Furthermore, the team attended several different AMAs hosted by projects and influencers in the Solana ecosystem. In the coming months, the team plans to host more podcasts under The Alpha Dog series to grow the project’s content library and help educate the ecosystem by engaging and talking with many of the biggest and most successful individuals and projects in Solana.

• Launched The Watchdog newsletter on February 7, 2022, a weekly piece that breaks down all that happened in the Solana ecosystem. As of quarter-end, The Watchdog had more than +625 unique subscribers.
• The Samoyedcoin team was on the StarStock NFT reMint show on February 16, 2022.

• George Harrap of Step Finance was on The Alpha Dog podcast on February 25, 2022.
• The Samoyedcoin team was back on the StarStock NFT reMint show on February 26, 2022.
• The Samoyedcoin team was on Aver Exchange’s Twitter spaces on March 1, 2022.

• The Samoyedcoin team attended BetDEX’s Twitter spaces alongside Grape Protocol and LinksDAO on March 16, 2022.

Community Developments

Community comes first, always. That said, the Samoyedcoin team rolled out a number of community events geared towards strengthening the Samo Famo’s ties, making inter-community connections, and sharing insights & perspectives that, in the end, make each one of us an overall better person.

• Launched the SAMO New Years Fitness Challenge on January 10, 2022; with up to $20,000 in prize money for the biggest transformations, more than 200 community members register.
• Started “Good Samos of The Week,” a weekly initiative that recognizes select community members for their contributions and community involvement.
• Hosted monthly Town Hall on March 2, 2022, where the team highlighted past wins, what’s ahead, & how community members can get involved.
• Launched “Crypto Tekkers” community event, a weekly community event where Samoyedcoin’s top chartist share their insights and takes on traditional & crypto markets.
• Rolled out the Samoyedcoin March Madness Bracket where community members could mint a unique Samoyedcoin March Madness NFT representing their bracket and entitling users to pool winnings.
• Hosted our monthly Townhall on March 29, 2022; topics discussed include recent wins, as well as the forthcoming release of SAMO DAO, SAMO Syndicates, and a SAMO community validator.

Statistics

Given the challenges in quantifying a project’s impact and recognition in the open market, we turned to a number of different metrics that lend insight into the overall growth and recognition of Samoyedcoin.

• January 10, 2022: Surpassed 65,000 Twitter followers.
• January 11, 2022: Surpassed 50,000 $SAMO holders.
• January 29, 2022: Surpassed 70,000 Twitter followers.
• March 24, 2022: Surpassed 55,000 $SAMO holders.
• March 29, 2022: Surpassed 80,000 Twitter followers.
• March 31, 2022: Total value locked (TVL) across all SAMO DeFi products hit $30M.

What’s Ahead

In 2Q2022, the Samoyedcoin team is concentrated on rolling out several large initiatives that, in our eyes, will separate SAMO from the pack, add value to $SAMO & SAMO NFTs, and encourage community members to get involved. These initiatives include the following:

• Hiring and working with a creative agency to help Samoyedcoin with content product and dissemination.
• Mass marketing campaigns to increase brand awareness and recognition.
• Launching SAMO DAO, a low-barrier to entry decentralized autonomous organization concentrated on researching, writing, and helping market various projects built on the Solana blockchain. Those who are not interested in deep, fundamental research will be able to participate in multiple trading leagues and events.

• Rolling out SAMO Syndicates whereby NFT owners are assigned a team based on a trait of their NFT. Teams will compete to earn points that grant them access to separate discord channels, prizes, and community reputation points.

1Q2022 was an eventful, successful, and exciting quarter for the Samoyedcoin project. As a community, we grew our reach, impact, and brand by working together to bring in new community members, collaborating with existing Solana-based projects, and identifying areas of improvement for 2Q2022 and beyond. Regardless of the market trends in the months ahead, the team intends to relentlessly build to help establish Samoyedcoin as Solana’s ambassador and onboard new users to the Solana ecosystem.
